My beautiful niece Isla was born on the 10th of April last year and was a healthy baby, born without complications. My brother Stephen and his wife Michelle welcomed Isla home along with her big brother Joshua and big sister Ruby. On the morning of the 14th of April, when she was only 4 days old, Isla sadly passed away unexpectedly. We were all heartbroken for Stephen, Michelle and the kids as well as Isla’s grandparents.
At the time of Isla’s passing, the Scottish Cot Death Trust, a small charity, stepped in and offered the family the most amazing support. Since Isla’s passing I have wanted to do something to raise funds for this wonderful charity. When Andrew suggested I join him on the walk to celebrate Henry’s birthday, I couldn’t think of anything more fitting.
Tragically, my brother Stephen, Isla’s dad, also passed away suddenly last month and the Cot death trust have again offered Michelle and the kids their amazing support. This tragic loss has further pushed me to want to walk with Andrew and the other dads.
